Since the beginning of 2003, we have been organizing Eight-Precept seminars for all Buddhist followers on the first
Saturday monthly. There has been a group of 50 to 60 Buddhist followers attended in each seminar (check Center’s
schedule for detail). Buddha created this type of seminar for the Buddhists who could not lead a life like a Buddhist
monk to have one day to live and practice the lives of monk’s hood. The seminar began at 8:30 am till 8:30 pm in the
same day. The seminar schedule was: Received precepts, listened to dharma session, meditating walk, worshiped
Buddha, had a lunch in mindfulness. In the afternoon, the followers listened precepts in other temple in Northern California
where an Asking for Pardon Ceremony for all shangas was held. When coming back to the center, they were released from
the Dharma precepts and went home. The days of Eight Precept seminar gave the Buddhist followers chances to communicate
with the shangas to learn more about Dharma, especially during the Dharma talks and teaching precepts given by the Most
Venerable and Reverends in the area.
